Merger FAQs

Where will my funding go?

All funding will stay local. As with all donations made to Habitat for Humanity of San Antonio or Guadalupe Valley Habitat for Humanity, you can designate where you would like your funding to go. You may want to restrict it to one house or to a certain build. We will respect your wishes. Unrestricted donations will give us the greatest buying power to purchase materials that will be used for the entire operation. However you wish to give will greatly help us serve more families.

How does the merger impact the ReStore and Home Centers?

Customers may notice a greater variety of products and still great deals but nothing else is expected to change. The stores will work together to bring you the very best deals possible. If you would like to sign up for a weekly email featuring deals from all four stores, TEXT HFHSAGV to the number 22828. You can also like our Home Centers & ReStore pages on Facebook for updates. For hours of operation or if you wish to shop online click here.

What leadership changes will happen?

Natalie Griffith is President and CEO of the combined organization. Madeline Zwicke will remain the Executive Director of the Guadalupe Valley Habitat for Humanity chapter. Zwicke will continue to run day-to-day operations for Guadalupe Valley from the Seguin office. The combined organization will share a governing board of directors comprised of community members from both Bexar and Guadalupe Counties.

How does this affect families wishing to apply?

In general, families will still apply in the county in which they reside. We are currently updating our family selection policies to consolidate the selection process to cover both Bexar and Guadalupe County. Visit the Bexar or GV websites for future updates on how to apply.

Will there be a name change?

At this point, there will not be a name change. Guadalupe Valley Habitat for Humanity will operate as a chapter of Habitat for Humanity of San Antonio. The organizations will work together but will remain distinct with their own logos and branding.

How do I sign up to volunteer?

We offer volunteer opportunities for groups and individuals. Volunteers can build homes (construction volunteers), provide lunches, help in our administrative offices and work in our Home Centers or ReStore. For a full list of opportunities in Bexar County click here. For a full list in Guadalupe County click here.

How can my faith organization get involved?

Partnering with Habitat helps a congregation fulfill its mission to minister to persons in need. The opportunity to work on a Habitat home can bring energy to a congregation – it brings members together and provides a great way to attract new members. All age groups can take part. Everyone involved can experience spiritual growth through their service to others.

Contact our Faith Relations associate at Partner@HabitatSA.org to create a plan for your faith organization to raise funds to help with our home building program in Bexar or GV. All levels of funding are welcome.
